Short-term weight-loss plans can be effective, although a lot of them are very low in calories and/or nutrients, which can be hazardous for your health. The Military diet is indeed a short-term diet, but it comes with an easy to follow, balanced meal-plan containing the right food combinations that can support your metabolism into burning fat more effectively.

The diet lasts 3 days and you can follow it only one time or take a break for 4 days, start to diet again for 3 days and so on, until you reach your weight-loss goals. Apparently you can lose up to 10 pounds in 2 days with the Military diet, although the results vary a lot from one person to another.

Other considerations

Coffee or any type of tea with caffeine are part of this diet, but only for the first two meals during the first day. You can use moderate amounts of salt and pepper and small amounts of natural dried herbs to spice up your foods. The best ways to cook your vegetables during this diet is through steaming or boiling.

As you can see, this diet is a bit restrictive, in terms of calories and food quantity. The Military Diet relies a lot on eggs, cheese and meat so it is high in protein. It also includes a sufficient amount of dietary fiber (from fruits and vegetables) and low amounts of fat. That is why it is so effective for weight-loss.

Like for most other diets, exercise is recommended. Even if you are seriously overweight a 20-minute daily walk can help you start getting into shape and losing weight more effectively.

If you plan on repeating the diet, be very careful what and how much you eat during the four days off. Try to eat high-quality nutritious foods, others than the ones included in the diet. For a healthy individual, the Military Diet can be considered safe, although asking the doctor’s advice is recommended before starting to follow a diet, even if you don’t have any illnesses.
